You want to finish your college degree, but you’re intimidated by the thought of returning to college. You know that a degree can open doors and create a better life for you and your family. However, you’re concerned about the financial aspect, the educational demands, and balancing it all. So you put off taking the first step.
Mississippi’s Complete 2 Compete Program (C2C) was created precisely for you. It helps eliminate many of the barriers to going back to school, making your degree an achievable goal. Here are some of the ways the C2C program help you overcome common concerns.
“I want to finish my degree, but don’t know if I can afford it.”
The C2C Grant was created to help with the costs of returning to college. It is a $1,000 grant, renewable every qualifying semester, and available to eligible C2C program participants.
You can be considered for the C2C Grant, after being accepted into the C2C program. Simply follow these step by step instructions on the C2C Grant page, including completion of the grant application form, the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and the Mississippi State Aid application.
“I took a lot of classes and I have a lot of credits, but I don’t think they are all going to count toward a degree.”
The University Studies bachelor’s degree program was designed exclusively for C2C. It was established for adults who invested a lot of time and energy earning college credits but left school without finishing their degree. For these people, the Bachelor’s of University Studies Degree offers a lot of benefits.
-
Flexibility in fulfilling core requirements
-
Grade forgiveness (for that class(es) you had trouble with last time)
-
Acceptance of technical credits (up to 30 hours at all eight public Mississippi universities)
-
The support of a C2C Coach to develop the best degree plan possible for you
You could be eligible to earn your University Studies degree if you:
-
Are accepted into the C2C Program
-
Have previously earned at least 90 credit hours
-
Have NOT completed a baccalaureate degree
-
Have been out of college for the last 24 months or more
“I wouldn’t have any idea where to start or how to navigate the college system.”
The C2C Coaches are one aspect that makes the program so special. They are experienced college staff members focused on helping adult learners navigate the sometimes complicated process of earning a degree. The C2C Coach provides support every step of the way – from enrollment through degree completion.
In other words, you do not need to worry about managing the system. Your C2C coach will help you and find your fastest pathway to a degree, maximize your earned credits, providing you a roadmap, and giving you ongoing support to help you stay on track.
“Sure I’d like to get my degree, but I have young kids and an elderly dad to take care of.”
Here is where C2C’s partnership with the Mississippi Department of Human Services (MDHS) can help by providing services that eliminate barriers for adults seeking to return to college.
